MASS CASUALTY EVENTS
Mass casualty events (MCE) occur when the Emergency Service has to deal with sudden events of rare occurrence.
A disproportion between rescuers and the event, the necessity to apply different approaches and non routinely rescue management account for specific and easily applicable protocol and indications.
This strategy is part of AREU’s culture which is promoting the principles of the Disaster Medicine to his personnel.
Triage and control line are today part of the training background of emergency rescue.
AREU is ready to intervene in MCE as occurred in the past during the earthquakes in Aquila, Emilia, Haiti, Marche and adverse weather event of Rigopiano (Abruzzo). It also promotes training courses (from 2013 with new technologies) with other institutional partners.
